I was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio until I was in the 3rd grade. My family then moved to Milford, Massachusetts. In 2001, I moved back to Ohio. This time it was in Wapakoneta, Ohio. I attended Owens Community College on a scholarship to play soccer, but found out that rugby was a better fit for me. In 2005, I transferred to Thee Ohio State University and majored in Middle School Education. I then continued my education at The Ohio State University and received a master's in middle school education in grades 4-9 specializing in math and science.

After college, I moved to North Carolina to teach where I coached middle and high school soccer for boys and girls. I was the first coach to win the a playoff game in Union Middle School history and my boys high school team was ranked #1 in division 1A . I taught in fourth through the eighth grade in urban school districts in North Carolina, before moving to back to Ohio.

I taught in Toledo for three and a half years before accepting a job at L. Hollingsworth School for the Talented and Gifted.
