hey guys this is crazy here I've been getting quite a few questions about the Compromise of 1850 and also the situation with Kansas and Nebraska with the Kansas-Nebraska Act what I wanted to do was I wanted to just let you hear from me a little bit more of an explanation instead of you just trying to figure it out from the notes because I know sometimes notes can be a little difficult without my CI trick explained it let's first talk about the Compromise of 1850 showing the Compromise of 1850 is really going to explode the slavery issue in America where we left off before you guys left for school closure why is America was in a time of expansion and Manifest Destiny but the problem was not really agreed on the slavery thing hey and remember we came up with the Mason-Dixon line that was supposed to say right here at this line slavery was supposed to stay out really work hey are we good so far and hoping so so the Compromise of 1850 is going to stay a few things one California is a free state alright so it doesn't matter if you're in Northern California or Southern state California tree to is going to say that New Mexico and Utah are going to have popular sovereignty popular sovereignty means that it is up to the people living in that state as to whether they are going to have slavery or not so they are going to have a vote okay and the vote is going to specifically be about yes or no to slavery so that is popular sovereignty and New Mexico and Utah are going to be given that opportunity the slave trade is going to end in Washington DC right so that's number three so far we have California's free New Mexico and Utah get to choose what the slave trade and our capital is done doing this anymore it's oh so pretty much if you have a slave the only opportunity to get more is to trade is to self is to buy and if they have any children this is also going to define the border between Texas so it's going to say that they are now two separate states and the big one is that it is going to really really make those xuxa slave law is very strict so that says that if you are a runaway slave it doesn't matter if you've been free for years and years and years if they find you your drug back you have to go back you have to be a slave and the really crazy part even if you were born free if you were just that like you're just in the wrong place at the wrong time you can also become a slave again alright or if you were free for the first time in your entire life and so that's going to be the thing that really scares people who wanted to abolish slavery the abolition is because you could have been free for years and years your whole life and now all of a sudden you get captured and you're taking back okay so that is the Compromise of 1850 California's free New Mexico and Utah you can popular sovereignty you get to choose slave trades done in Washington DC the border between Texas and New Mexico that's it there's no ifs ands or buts about it and those fugitive slave laws to the Kansas-Nebraska Act the Kansas-Nebraska Act is going to say Kingston Nebraska and I have a big enough population that they can see we're also going to allow them to have popular sovereignty like we did with New Mexico and Utah why is a snitch I'm going to bring that real quick up to you it is issue because what we have is people who really really want to slavery people who really really didn't want slavery swimming pools Kansas and Nebraska to try to sway that vote for example let's say you live in South Carolina you are off for slavery that is your thing you are going to go to Kansas and register to vote you are not a resident of Kansas and this is going to be a whole messy situation and that is what leads us to Bleeding Kansas okay people are actively going to be fighting and killing this situation over this issue now these people who came in just for the vote Circle Florida referendums to vote in just at election to play the vote in their opinion in this is going to be huge guys just the people who actually live in Kansas people actually live in Nebraska they're not actually getting their say here because so many of these people are going to sway their votes and it's going to really start erupting into something very violent that's why they call it Bleeding Kansas and you guys know what eventually leads to our next topic will avenge maybe the Civil War if you have any questions I am here for you I miss you terribly and I'm always welcome to just a hi mrs. klase but I hope this video helps nice
