THE BIG REVEAL They are beautiful eggs. We are very fortunate to have this opportunity to hatch together. Even though it's not in person, you will still become an expert. Listen and follow along with the captions. In your science journal write how the eggs compare with the diagram of an egg you drew earlier. Write something new you have learned using at least two complete sentences.

okay so you can see that the farm where they came from packed them very well why do you suppose that they needed to be packed so well because they're fragile right so here we have our container looks similar to an egg container that you would get at the grocery store but these are not going to be the same as the eggs at the grocery store eggs from the grocery store if we put them in an incubator they would not grow into a check because they're not fertilized but our eggs are in so you can there's more packing material there so I'm just going to try and dump some of that off and do you notice the different colors usually eggs that you get from the grocery store are going to be white because all of those. and that they come from are the same breed or type of chicken so we are looking at different breeds of chickens here so you can see that we have some darker brown color there are eggs that are more white but look at the color of this one right here this one is more of a greenish blue color and then we have different shades of light brown or beige okay so I'm going to contest and get other Carton on top all right so I took the bubble wrap off of the second carton going to open it up and see what this curtain looks like you can we have more colors there's another darker one there's another one that looks kind of greenish blue more white so the first dozen I laid out and you can see that there are different sizes of eggs and the eggs are a little bit different shaped this they just more round like a ping pong ball almost and this one is more oval shape so different types of chickens can lay different shapes and different colors and different sizes of eggs one thing that I didn't tell you was that before I started to unwrap and open the eggs I needed to wash my hands very thoroughly because chicken egg cells are not solid there are actually little holes in this child so they as the kid grows it can get air and if I have any germs on my hand it could go through the egg show and actually make the chip SEC so that's one reason another reason why this is a big one another reason that I needed to wash my hands was if I had any oil on my hands like lotion you guys all know that I have hand lotion in and I like to put it on my hand that I could act like a plug and stopped up the holes in the Shell so if the holes were plugged then that would the check would not be able to get enough are and we know that because these are going to be living things they need to be able to have are they need to be able to breathe so I'm going to finish laying this out and come back and talk about all right so I have all of the eggs out laying out here so you can see we have 24 eggs you can also see that we have you know like I said different sizes and different colors this one's a lot bigger the reason I need to lay them out now if they have to come to room temperature they've been traveling from the Hatchery where the Hensley eggs to my house so they came through FedEx and if you think about a delivery truck there is not any where the packages are so these eggs feel cold when touched and it would for the eggs for me to put them right into our warm to Bader and do you remember what the temperature is inside of our to Vader it's about 100 degrees. you remember okay so if I put these cool they would start to sweat just like a glass in the condensation on the outside of it and we don't want that for our eggs if not good for them so for 24 hours I have to let the eggs sit in my house and they will warm weather 24 hours pass then I can put our eggs inside the incubator and we'll start our countdown until they hatch and I will talk to you about that more tomorrow I'm going to give you a good close-up love of the egg they're pretty clean but you'll notice on some of us there a little dirty this one right here probably had some chicken poop on it and that's because we know chickens don't they don't take baths there animals that live outside right so there's going to be dirt and poop sometimes you when you get eggs or even feathers on them now when you buy your eggs at 2 free tour of course those eggs have been washed very well so all of that's been washed off in the germs are all gone okay but again do you say eggs are different from what you get at the grocery store because these eggs can be in baited and can grow into new chicken alright so there are our twenty for beautiful
