Introduction to content and overall updates for the week.

hey there 7th grade all of you had a fantastic weekend and that you are ready for week 7 of digital learning so first things first I'll please you are watching a video that has all four of us teachers in it and has a lot of big updates in a lot of things that you need to know about so be sure you check that out second you should be happy to see that you do you both have this week and I both have for the rest of the year so yeah explain for you you are so cap and social for the rest of the school year working on your assignment you will somehow Monday at 5 a.m. even though it's not going to be vocab just know that you have been doing a fantastic job and I am just so proud of each and every one of you in the hard work that you have been doing so this week we are still learning about the Renaissance and you're actually coming over to Spain so what I would like you to do is please make sure your Maps if you left yours at school look up a map online and see where Spain is in relation to Italy you will see that they are both in Europe and you will see that you're not super far apart but they are going to be the areas of the world were affected by the Middle Ages they were affected by feudalism and they are both going to be having their own Renaissance at this time so having a Renaissance architecture of this something that Spain is facing is they are going to be having a little over what religion is correct for their people to follow now you all live in a country where we have religious freedom and so this idea that people can only have one religion should be a little foreign to you because here everybody can practice what they believe in at the time though government was run by the religion that you had and so in Spain they were run by Christianity the monarchs to the king and queen they were Christian insulted their priests and Pope and made sure that everything that they were doing coincided with what the church one of them to do so really honestly the church helps run the and so it was really threatening when they had people who are following the religion of Islam show up in Spain because this was just a crazy idea that people would be choosing any relay but Christian and so Christianity and the culture that was there in Spain it does prevail but it also is going to set a bit of a stage of people fearing other religion taking power and taking over and so welcome to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella these are going to be the monarchs that you will be learning about this week they are very very important in history because I quit anything you got to take the good with the bad and they have an interesting claim to fame so they come out of this battle between weather Spain should be run Christianity or Islam and Christianity prevails they win if you will there's this underlying fear that another religion could try to take over and could try to take majority so their focus is now going to be shifted towards people of the Jewish faith now this is actually going to be very important because what you even learn to pass my class is that people who follow this religion have been persecuted how many times in history and this is just one of the awful for perfect examples of it but we are going to the idea of a Spanish Inquisition know you've already heard of an inquisition with our dude Galileo because that's what he had to go through and Italy at the time and it was because he threatened the power of literature same idea so what the Spanish Inquisition they are going to be checking in on people of the Jewish faith and they are going to force convert are going to torture they are going to try to get people to confess to heresy which is crimes against the church and it's going to be a bit of a dark time in history I really is it's going to be a time of intolerance and an acceptance of different beliefs that paint so this is going to be happening during their time and so as you can probably already tell they don't have the best reputation but I challenge you this week to read a few primary sources very very small ones that I provide to you I want you to tell me I do some great things for Spain to forget this is pretty much what they were last thing there's going to be a part of him it is also going to be a feature in your work this week but you have to do it to find out how so I look forward to your questions please come.
