Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Welcome to Social and Emotional Learning

With our 2020-2021 school year starting off as remote learning due to Covid-19. There can be many mixed emotions a person can be feeling. Introducing Social and Emotional Learning this upcoming school year would be a great opportunity for families and students to be able to identify and understand how they are feelings.

Social and Emotional Learning includes 5 core skills; Self- Awareness, Relationship Skills, Responsible Decision Making, Self Management and Social Awareness (casel). During each of the 5 core skills students develop better skills that will lead to better mental health, better academic achievement, and better success in life.

Students will learn Social and Emotional strategies to help them: identifying and expressing emotions, self‐regulation, social problem solving, initiating and maintaining interactions, cooperative responding, strategies for handling disappointment and anger, and friendship skills.

Social and Emotional Learning will help our students develop skills to live a better life. Students will learn how to handle relationships at school and outside of school. Families of students will have guidance and support for helping their child regulate emotions or stress and understand the emotions of others.
